Private Equity 101

Last week I went to a course In private equity. It was held by AVCAL.

The course went for two hours and covered all the basic fundamental concepts of private equity versus venture capital.

VC Is the most appropriate funding for start-up businesses and entrepreneurs, after having made your own seed investments and approached business angels.

Private equity comes in when you are thinking about your exit. PE Invests in already well established businesses that have a promising future, or if the PE thinks they can do a turnaround will grab a failing business.

The course was taught by Vivek Vaidyanathan with PowerPoint presentations and many examples of Australian businesses. I was very fascinated to hear about Healthscope.

On the day I met some nice people such as Christian Baldock and Maree Finlay who, I was excited to see, has a QR code on her business card.
